Our Intentions

Because a woman in a normal pregnancy is best placed to determine the right context for her birth:

Defend and promote womens' rights to give birth to their children in the environment of their choice;

Because women have a right to information allowing them to make an informed choice:

Inform and sensitise the population, and women in particular, in order to help them to be fully autonomous with regard to their experiences, pre, peri and postnatally;

Because the midwives' approach is based on the respect for women's needs:

Promote the practice and use of midwifery services in Quebec;

To preserve the physical and psychological integrity of mothers and their babies:

Promote natural childbirth;

So that babies' needs for affection, nutrition and immunity are met:

Promote breastfeeding;

So that the needs and desires of childbearing women be heard:

Act as the voice of its' members.
